Guilt is anger directed at ourselves. -Peter McWilliams

When she looks at him it burns him right down to the soul, the way she clings to him now isn't about danger or forbidden loss, it's about loss. The life that lived inside of her is gone. She left Roy, the world of their affair crashed down around them with the loss of the baby she was carrying. Jim's baby, not Roys, his guilt threatens to overwhelm him every moment he's awake - it even haunts him when he's sleeping. It haunts him in a way he's never felt before. It's crazy but it's worse now that he spends nights in her bed instead of the other way around. It's worse now that she's not wearing that ring that he hated and loved because it was her rebellion against his love and he was her rebllion against her un-happiness.

Jim was always sure that he would make Pam the happiest she could ever possibly be. He had dreams where she didn't marry Roy. Dreams where they both took seperate journey's and ended up in the same place they started - loving each other. He had dreams where they went on actual dates and teased each other in the office. He had dreams where he bought the ring about a week after they started dating. And dreams where they had a happy ending.

This was not his happy ending. But he's with her and she clings to him like she needs him to breathe. She clings to him but she can't look at him. It's a long road.

It doesn't help that Roy has promised to kill him. Jim likes being alive and he'd rather not deal with Roy Anderson - her husband. Soon to be ex. Jim's not sure which of them is more eager to get out of the marriage now that everybody knows what had been happening. Angela gives them disgusted looks. Michael thinks it's great but Jim knows if Michael truly got the breadth of what happened he'd be the first one offering sympathies. It's weird because Dwight has been extra careful around Pam lately, he even brings her things to try to make her feel better.

They haven't pranked Dwight in weeks.

Guilt churns in his stomach, guilt and pain.

Marriage isn't a word…it's a sentence! -The Crowd

Jim rolled his eyes at Michael's pronouncement at Pam's wedding. He'd been in Australia when the wedding had taken place and he wasn't interested in seeing the video at all. He'd just as soon as stick a spork into his eye than sit through Kevin's band's rendition of Police songs. Weren't they a Steve Miller Cover Band anyway? Pam had been nice enough to give Michael the floor for a little while during the reception he was making everyone watch the footage of his few minutes of 'fame' as he put it. Roy was there in the conference room with his arm around Pam absently but he was talking to Daryl and Kevin about fantasy football instead of paying attention to the video. It was probably better for Jim that he wasn't watching because inexplicably the camera fell on Pam's face and she looked so alone and unhappy at her own wedding reception it made his heart ache.

Then again he was sure she probably deserved it for going through with the thing in the first place. So he's bitter, sue him. And now she's pregnant with his child and she keeps swearing to him that she's going to tell Roy and leave Roy but she's still just sitting there trying to pretend like she's anywhere but here. He probably would be too but he likes watching her and to a degree he likes watching Roy making her unhappy. It's sick and twisted of him and he honestly doesn't wish her unhappy but her choices got her to this place and he gets a grim sense of satisfaction knowing that she knows that.

He still loves her, desperately and he knows she knows that. He can also feel Karen's eyes on him. He'd broken up with her two weeks ago in anticipation of having Pam in his bed as often as possible without having to worry about her leaving in the middle of the night to get dressed and go home to her husband. Instead he's back where they started and it makes him so angry.

Roy doesn't see her he just doesn't and Jim wants to make Roy pay but more than anything he just wanted to wake up next to her and watch as her body rounds with his baby. He wants to take her into his arms and press his head against her stomach. Go with her on doctor's appointments and make love to her till she can't remember her own name.

But she still sits there under the curve of Roy's arm and avoids meeting his eyes.
